It was a beautiful sunny day when I met up with Chelsea and Brian in downtown Bluffton, for their fall engagement session. They were home from college for a few days for Fall Break. With a high in the upper 80s it didn’t feel much like fall, but these two rocked their session and you’d never know it wasn’t actually sweater weather.
When we were brainstorming ideas for their engagement session, Chelsea said she thought it would be fun to include her favorite hometown coffee shop Hugh’s. I loved this idea! Hugh’s closes by early evening so we started their session there, where Chelsea enjoyed coffee and Brian drank water from a coffee cup–because what else would you drink water from for coffee shop pictures . 😉 It didn’t take me long to realize this was going to be one of the most fun sessions I’ve had! Brian and Chelsea have such a joy between them, and their joy and laughter is absolutely contagious!
They met in their local church youth group as high school students. While the youth group was heading to a conference in Michigan Chelsea asked Brian to carry “a bunch of stuff” and that is how it at began…. They dated through the remainder of high school, including a long-distance year while she finished high school and he started college 2.5 hours away. After graduation Chelsea joined Brian as a Purdue student and they both love it there. As one of the biggest colleges in the state I enjoyed hearing how they view their school and find it to have a “small feel” once you find your niche on campus.
After a few shots at the coffee shop we moved to a downtown alley to snap a few fun images highlighting their love of Star Wars. This was when I discovered Chelsea is a fellow Converse lover! Her bright red Converse were the perfect compliment to their Star Wars shirts. And we had a fun discussion about Converse as wedding shoes….
Next we headed to our near by State Park. While they changed outfits, I drove through the entire park, looking for fall color. Thankfully, in the last area, we were blessed to find one spot of trees with color to really make their fall engagement shoot feel like fall. Those images are absolutely my favorite from their whole session!
I’ve gotten to know 2 of Chelsea’s sister over the years and it was such a delight to get to know her! She is such a delightful young woman with a heart for serving others and an easy laugh. It’s easy to see why Brian adores her. I’ve known Brian since he was young, and he has grown into such a fun young man. Brian and Chelsea make a wonderful couple! They clearly delight in each other and are best friends. I imagine their life together will be filled with lots of fun and laughter. I absolutely cannot wait for their wedding next summer!
Thank you Chelsea & Brian for spending the evening with me!
Sit back and enjoy a few (ok way more than a few) of my favorites from their fall engagement session.
