Why have an engagement session?

I believe engagement sessions are such an important part of the Wedding experience, I began including a complimentary engagement session in my wedding packages last year.   There are so many benefits to having a formal engagement session, that I almost don’t know where to start!

A trial run

You can think of your engagement session as a trial run.  This is your relaxed, no pressure, time together in front of my camera.   There’s no timeline of the wedding day, no wedding day nerves–just you and your sweetie having fun together, while I capture your joy.  During your engagement session you’ll experience how I work with poses and lighting.  Your engagement session is time to allow you to get comfortable in front of my camera.   When you’re confident it shows– in your walk, your smile and your pictures!  Once you’ve experienced an engagement session and seen your engagement images you’ll be able to move confidentially into your wedding day photos.  You already know what to expect and what to do so you’re ready to go!  One less thing to worry about on such a busy day–when I want you to be able to focus on just enjoying each other!

Professional photos

You and your finance` have probably never had professional photos taken of the two of your together.  Your engagement session will give you amazing photos of the two of you, in a causal setting.  You can use these as gift to family–parents and grandparents will love these!  You can use these images to create save the dates, wedding programs, and  your wedding website.  I love it when couples chose to use engagement photos as part of their wedding decor!

A time to connect

Planning a wedding is a busy time.  Your engagement session is an opportunity to set aside time for just the two of you to focus on each other, having fun together, reminiscing about how your relationship has grown and dreaming about your future together as a married couple.  This might include having your session at a place that has meaning to you:  where you got engaged, where you went on your first date, or  one of your favorite places.  I’m also happy to help you choose a location that fits your personalities.   I’ve had some of my couples tell me that their engagement session was the most fun they’d had together in a while!  I try to insure that all my couples leave their engagement session feeling they just had a great time together.

Get to know your photographer

This is the longest amount of time we’ll get to spend together before your big day.   It’s completely relaxed, no pressure–just a time for all of us to get comfortable with each other.  I love getting to know my couples during the engagement session!  I learn how you interact with each other, what poses you enjoy, what makes you smile….  Getting to know each other during your engagement session will enable me to capture real genuine emotion during your wedding day.  That is what I love most!  Getting to know my couples and capturing their real. authentic. you!
